Submission Guidelines
Authorship
In principle, at least one of the authors must be a member of the Japanese Society of Applied Phycology.
Publications
The submission must be original work and can be a research article, research note, review, or technical report. Manuscripts that are submitted must not have been previously published, accepted for publication, nor under consideration elsewhere.
Manuscript preparation
All English manuscripts must follow the manuscript guidelines. Manuscripts must have a 200 word abstract and 5 keywords. Technical reports do not require keywords.
Manuscript length
The final length of manuscript proofs should be 8 pages for research articles and technical reports, 2 pages for research notes, and 16 pages for reviews. Manuscripts exceeding these lengths will incur a page charge that is the responsibility of the authors.
Manuscript submission
The manuscript must be submitted as an email attachment, or sent via postal service to the Editor-in-Chief of Algal Resources. Mailed submissions must include a printed copy of the manuscript, figures and tables, and a CD of the respective files.
Review of manuscripts
Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed by two referees chosen by the editorial committee. The decisions regarding acceptance or rejection will made by the editorial committee, which will be based on the comments from the referees.
Editor’s proof
Accepted manuscripts will only have one chance of revision after being typeset for printing.
Reprints
Up to 50 reprints will be provided without charge by the Japanese Society of Applied Phycology. Charges for additional reprints are the responsibility of the authors. Inquire for more information.
Copyright policy
The Japanese Society of Applied Phycology holds all copyrights to manuscripts published in Algal Resources.

Manuscript Guidelines
- nclude the title and author names on a separate page. Indicate the corresponding author and include their mailing address, telephone and fax number, and e-mail address.
- For research articles and reports, the manuscript should contain, in the order of, the title, authors, address, abstract, and keywords. Following these sections, should be the body of the manuscript. The body should consist of, in order of, an introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, references, and the legends of figures and tables sections. If necessary, add an acknowledgements section following the references section. Note that for research notes, the manuscript should not be separated into sections. Include page numbers for all pages.
- Manuscripts should be written using appropriate word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word). Manuscripts should use A4 sized paper and double-spaced.
- Citations in the text should be indicated with parentheses. For example, (Yamada 2007a), (Yamada and Tanaka 2007), or (Yamada et al. 2007). Citations should be listed in alphabetical order by author then by the most recent publication by date, separate more than 3 citations with a comma. See the following examples:

- Tables and figures should be on separate pages. Place the figure or table number on the upper right of the page. Table titles should be placed above the table and include a period. All figure legends should be placed on a single page separate for the figures. Figure and table titles should be numbered, for example as Fig. 1 or Table 1, and their location within the text should be indicated in the right white margin of the manuscript.
- Species names should be indicated in italics and the taxonomic author should only be given during the first occurrence. Abbreviate species and genus names only after the first occurrence.
- Use only metric (SI) units and do not use periods or plurals in abbreviations.
